Music for action is offering up the "best" of Bonnaroo, a four day music festival held on a 700 acre farm in Tennesee, just for emailing your senators and advocating the passage of a clean energy bill.
The compilation includes music from Jack Johnson, Raphael Saadiq, Pearl Jam, and much more. Here's the link: http://www.musicforaction.org/

This post also christens the new SoundCloud account! We can now post players on Blogspot, Facebook, Twitter, and basically everywhere. Although, the free account only gives you two hours of space for tracks. Seeing as our podcasts (and podcasts in general) get pretty long, we filled that space pretty quickly. But in about three days we'll upgrade to a 12-hour account.
Since I did play a little Those Guys on the new podcast here, I just wanted to pay some respect to Paris Essoumbra. His musical inclinations and his way with words are definitely present in their songs, and he will be missed. We also wanted to say that Those Guys has the support of BNC Radio in trying to push through and keep composed even in the face of such a great loss.
Peace and Love,

Top Ten Albums for 2009!
Hey everyone!I just finished a new show with my top ten albums for 2009, including albums from Blakroc, Dawes, and Phoenix. There's also a new contest at the end!
The goal of the contest is to identify a majority (at least 13) of the songs used in DJ Earworm's new mash up of the top 25 singles in the US, "Blame it on the Pop." The third person to email a majority of the songs used will get a very special, undecided, prize! The catch is you can't just google it or look at his website. I'm trusting you guys here. Hope you'll participate!

Radio Renaissance First Show/Holiday Special!
Seeing as it's Christmas Day, it seemed like the right time to upload our First Show (which is also a Holiday Show). It's a little choppy in some places, but it's our first show, so we hope you enjoy it nonetheless. We talk about some relatively new music and play some original holiday music (ie not just the same old redone and redone holiday music you get tired of during this time of year). DJ Spinosaurs made a funny little radio christmas special too (hint: even T-Pain can't touch this). You can download the shows and songs easily on these links below.
Here is our first show/holiday special!

And here is DJ Spinosaurus' original holiday special on its own:

Ho Ho Ho,

Update from DJ Spin-o-saurus: I changed all of the file links to direct hostings from our brand spankin' new SoundCloud page (soundcloud.com/bncradio) so that you can listen to them directly on the blog.

Mission Control for New Show
We'd like to announce the mission behind our new show, RENAISSANCE RADIOCAST, which should be coming to you in podcast form before the new year!
Renaissance Radiocast is a show for both casual listeners and music aficionados alike. Either way, we play good music. Our mission, first and foremost, is to give our listeners a way to discover good music, new and old. But more than that, we want to give some more meaning to music than just the chorus of a catchy song. Through our changing thematic shows (our first show was a holiday special playing a wide variety of original holiday season songs), we like to give you the bigger picture. Along the way, we provide up to date local and world wide music news. In between all of this music, we'll be crafting a mix of (hopefully) hilarious and thoughtful segments. We like to throw in a little spice too. Authorities barring, we'll have our own surprises for you. Either way, you'll be entertained.
If you have any suggestions (since we love our audience), hit us up at either gabriel.pollak [at] bncmedia.org or peter.leonard [at] bncmedia.org.
Love,
Gabe the Babe
PS-Speaking of Missions, I'd like to remind you of the Whigs first album, Mission Control. But not just because it's a beastly album, but because the Whigs are coming to town this Thursday at the Black Cat! I suggest you go. They put on one of the best live shows I have ever seen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcjmVOAHEvc). Last time I saw them, I almost got hit in the head with a mic stand!
